The Blagger’s Guide To The Games
David Quantick rounds of this Olympic themed series of the wonderfully irreverent Blagger’s Guide as the 2012 Games draw to a close.
In this final episode, the Olympic symbols and emblems come under scrutiny; probably a little too close to the bone for this year’s offerings. We’ll uncover the stories behind the Olympic mascots, which originated in 1968 and this year manifested themselves in the guise of droplets of molten steel hanging from the girders of the Olympic Stadium called Wenlock and Mandeville. Or was it Widdecombe and Monte Carlo? (A little Blagger’s ‘in joke’ for you there…)
That’s right, drops of molten steel. But, you already knew that’s what they were, right? It’s so obvious...
David will also be pulling up the curtain on Danny Boyles highly anticipated Opening Ceremony, and all in his very own informative, yet anarchic way.
With spoof advertisements, movie trailers, sketches and quick fire gags - this Blagger’s Guide will leave you armed with a knowledge base worthy of a podium finish; or at least some excellent ammunition for a very specifically themed round in a pub quiz.
