The Co-Operative Cambridge Folk Festival
Smooth Operations has a long-running history with Europe’s most prestigious folk festival. First broadcasting from the sell-out festival some 20 years ago for BBC Radio 2, we have gone on to become the sole producers of audio/ visual content from the festival both live and recorded, across multi-platforms for multiple partners.
Since 2002 we have produced television programmes, latterly for BBC Four and more recently for Sky Arts. These high quality (HD) highlights programmes have included dazzling performances and rare interviews from the biggest names on main stage, specially commissioned acoustic performances in intimate settings and all the atmosphere of the fans enjoying the beautiful Cherry Hinton Hall grounds. The artists we’ve showcased have included: k.d. Lang, Joe Strummer, Kris Kristofferson, Romanian Gypsy band Taraf De Haidouks, Toumani Diabate, Martha Wainwright, Noah and The Whale, Seth Lakeman, Jimmy Cliff, Christy Moore, Joan Armatrading, Judy Collins, Irish/African fusion band Afro Celts, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, Richard Thompson, Mavis Staples, Nanci Griffith, Booker T, Oumou Sangare, Lucinda Williams and Martin Simpson.
In addition we have created and delivered innovative content for BBC Interactive including: on-stage performance videos, intimate backstage video interviews, exclusive acoustic session videos, blogs, flashmobs, podcasts, stills photography and video-diary pieces for mobile phone download.
You can see more of the festival coverage we produced this year on Sky Arts beginning on Saturday 16th October.
