Smooth Operations Produce Sony Radio Academy Awards 2012
The 30th annual Sony Radio Academy Awards ceremony was a Smooth Operations production for the first time. The brief to deliver a really exciting, un-missable and glamorous show worthy of the talent being celebrated within our industry was delivered in style. It was a proper party.
Gary Barlow, Jessie J and Alexandra Burke performed live and Chris Evans was master of ceremonies as 37 top industry awards were presented to the cream of British radio at The Grosvenor Hotel in London. Stephen Fry topped the night with a special award for Nicholas Parsons, Rita Ora and The Voice’s Danny O’Donoghue honoured radio’s Rising Stars, Sir Tom Jones gave BBC 6 Music Station of the Year and Robbie Savage presented Radio Humberside’s octogenarian pair Beryl and Betty with Best Entertainment Award.
Working in close collaboration with The Radio Academy, Smooth Ops’ experience and skill was in evidence as the bar for this long-running event was spectacularly raised. Also for the first time, awareness of the awards was raised by Smooth Ops edit team who edited bespoke radio package overnight for play on breakfast shows and news desks across UK radio the following morning.
Congratulations to the Smooth Ops event team - John Leonard, Viv Atkinson, Kit Bailey, Vince Hunt and Emma Victoria Houlton and also to all at ACP Productions.
